Welcome to our website which presents some basic information about our Trades Council.

We are rank-and-file union activists from a number of union branches and workplaces across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

At the present time our main activity, in line with national TUC objectives, is fighting the Con/Dem cuts. Our Trades Council and Blackpool Against the Cuts are working with local workers, union activists and community groups to defend jobs and public services.

As with any other organisation, we are only as effective as our members. It is our proud boast that we have an uninterrupted record of activity, going back 120 years. However, proud boasts, by themselves, will never alter current realities - only united and concerted action can do this. If your union branch is not currently affiliated then we urge you to affiliate, and participate in our activities.

Our motto is The past we inherit, the future we build. Working together we can build that future. And build it, we must.
